You will be required to apply much of what we have discussed in class to the article below. So...if you have anytime to read this weekend you may want to go ahead and read it. I will post the exam by 2/22, perhaps before, so check back if you want to get a head start on the exam.

Final Exam (due May 3) I have not completed your entire final yet. However, I am now posting Part I of your final so that you can begin working on it. Be sure to read over the exam before class on Tu and come to class prepared to ask me any questions you may have up to this point.
Here is an example of a lesson plan developed for 10 minutes.

So far, I have not received many questions on the final. I will be available in my office 322 HES on Monday from 9:30-10:30 and 1:30-2:30 to answer questions about the final and return old assignments. Everyone's evaluation of written materials has been graded. I have graded the lesson plans through 4/21 presentations, and I will have 4/26-4/28 graded by Monday.
Monday 5/2/05, 2:40. I have just received a flurry of folks in my office and am now posting the list of FAQs I promised based on their questions:)
FAQs
- What do you want us to do for formative evaluation? I am most interested in you telling me how you might asses your audience's topic needs. You may also include how you assess whether they are comprehending your lesson as you teach it.
- Do I need to create a new summative evaluation for my lesson plan? No, I want you to look at what you have created and improve it if you can. Also tell me why what you have developed is a summative evaluation.
- Do I need to quote someone in my news release? No, you write on the subject you chose for the lesson plan. Tell the audience how to improve a behavior or why this subject is important. For example if your subject is exercise and diabetes, write why exercise is so important for those with diabetes, what are recommendations for duration and what are some ways to help people increase activity gradually.
- How do I change the evaluation tool to 3rd grade reading level? Unfortunately, the only tool I showed you all in class was Quick SMOG which does not include 3rd grade. Evaluate it to a 4th grade reading level. What I want you to really look at in this tool is the elimination of questions and improvement of wording. Minimize the tool to as few questions as you possibly can.
- Help me with question 5. I do not want you to just give me the bulleted points from Dr. Briley's presentation. I want you to present me with some how to's in approaching an audience. What specifically would you do as an individual faced with an audience different form yourself? I would like for you to try to keep your answer to about 1-2 pages.
Attention final exam day presenters, I will have your lesson plans available to pick up tomorrow from 10-12 in my office- 322 HES. As far as the final is concerned, I am trying, but we'll just have to see if I get them ready by Friday. If not Friday, definitely Monday. I'll let you know when. Keep checking this site. This is also where I will post all lesson plans and will leave them up for most of the summer. Do not assume they are correct just because I post them. I am posting them for your use and revision in the future.
Here are the lesson plans I received and am posting for your information. Sorry for the delay! Do not assume these are written correctly. I have not corrected them.
