Recipe for Week of August 6, 2001

Refreshing Fruit Sorbet (Makes 6 servings:  Serving amount: 1/2 cup)

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of fruit chunks (use your favorite fresh, canned or frozen fruit)
  • 1/2 cup 100% fruit juice (You may use the liquid from can if canned fruit is used.  Be sure to choose fruit canned in fruit juice or lite syrup to save on calories.)

Preparation Instructions:

1.  Cut fruit into 1 inch chunks if not already cut..  
2.  Freeze fruit overnight. 
3.  Pour frozen fruit and 100% juice  into a blender.
4.  Blend until smooth.
5.  Serve immediately, or spoon into a bowl, cover and freeze up to 8 hours.

Approximate nutritional analysis per serving: calories 109, fat 0g, 0% DV for fat, protein 1g, 2% DV for protein, carbohydrates 28 g, 9% DV for carbohydrates, fiber 1 g, cholesterol  0 mg,  sodium 2 mg, Vitamin A 2% DV, Vitamin C 44% DV, Folacin 5% DV
