|EDUCATOR SPOTLIGHT: Lynda Latta|
Teaching the life skills related to sewing and textiles opens the door to Extension programming for adults and youth through programs such as the Make it With Wool, Fashion Revue, Cloverbuds, in-depth sewing workshops, tours and modeling. These experiences provide exploration into career options and higher education paths as well as home-based business.
Nutrition and Health plays a major role in Ellis County programming. Healthy Living A to Z is utilized for adult and youth. Food Science is a major component of youth programming for 4-H Food Show, food workshops and 4-H Food Showdown. Programming expands to civic groups and OHCE lesson material. Also, Ellis County Extension teams with a Registered Dietitian teaching diabetes education and expecting mothers breast feeding program, in partnership with a regional hospital.
Extension provided a challenging job that allows me to showcase my talents and enthusiasm for teaching life skills. My greatest reward is making a difference in the lives of those around me.
