The OPPD is a partnership of representatives from
regional and statewide organizations interested in encouraging citizen involvement in
policy decisions through public deliberation. The mission of the OPPD is
to foster participation in reasoned and informed decision-making for the
public good.
The OPPD uses the National Issues Forums
model and materials from NIF, Study Circles Resource Center, Public
Agenda, and others to facilitate forums throughout the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma State
University Cooperative Extension Service is responsible for coordinating
and convening the partnership, and the OPPD advises and assists in
promoting, implementing, reporting and evaluating the National Issues
Forums (NIF) program in Oklahoma.
