Dear Extension Educators:
The current state budget situation
and its impact on the Cooperative Extension budget, has impacted our
ability to move ahead in planning for our next long range
programming cycle. Specialists have spent significant time reviewing
issues that arose in the listening sessions across the state and
have been reviewing PAC needs from the past few years. A number of
issues that have statewide implications have been identified by
them. These will be shared back with you as we are able to move the
planning process forward.
The Oklahoma Marriage Initiative
contract is also under review. Forty-one of you have or will have
received the PREP training by the end of this fiscal year. Extension
Educators are doing an excellent job of providing PREP workshops. As
we look toward the next year, we need to consider the commitment we
want to make t a new contract. Rachel Neal will be attending all
four District HCE conferences to meet with you and discuss issues
around this contract and our commitment to teaching PREP. Some of
you may not have had the opportunity to receive the training and
would like to do so in the next year. Others may have fulfilled your
commitment, and need to move in another direction. Please come
prepared to discuss with Rachel you point of view and interest in
PREP.
Sincerely,
Lynda Harriman, Assistant Director
