UPCOMING STATE EVENTS

Dear Extension Educators:

This year seems to be one of transition for us in several ways.  A number of you are now working in two counties. The legislature is deciding whether to allocate Extension an additional 3.35 million dollars.  Decisions will be made this summer regarding how and where the FCS program will be administered and where the state specialists in FCS will be located.  We are in the process of searching for a new Dean of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and expect that once that position is filled there will be a search for a new Associate Director for Cooperative Extension.

In addition we are in the process of developing plans for new FCS & 4-H impact programs that will officially roll out July 1, 2005.  Much positive energy is already being expended by new teams, with committees being determined and several already generating new and creative ideas. Establishing clearly defined desired outcomes for these new programs will be instrumental in designing appropriate evaluation methods and tools, as well as curricula.  Each program will have an adult and youth component, although both components may not begin the first year.  I hope each of you will take your team responsibilities seriously, be involved constructively to make your impact program the best that it can be.

I want to remind you that Ambassador grant applications are due August 1.  The grant application form is on the FCS website at www.fcs.okstate.edu

Sincerely,

Lynda Harriman
Asst. Director/Associate Dean
